One of the things I love to do in my free time is watching movies (how original huh?). I don’t normally go to the movies/rent a DVD that often, this summer I’ve been very busy working and studying that two movies in a week became kind of a record. Last week I had the chance to see The Time Traveler’s Wife and Julie and Julia.

First let me say that both movies were a disappointment to me. But this one in particular. I had no idea what it was about, but from the few photos I had seen it looked just beautiful… you know, colors, photography, etc. Plus Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams are both good actors so I though I’d love it.
Nothing further from the truth. To me was just another ordinary love story that tries to be original. Boring and confusing, it doesn’t explain why he can travel through time, how it works, anything about it.
Perhaps it’s just me, since the beginning I focused on that special talent and I wanted the story to be based on that. But I have to admit the title is clear: The Time Traveler’s Wife…

Another disappointment. One of the most boring movies I’ve ever seen. I even had to pause it and continue the following day. In my opinion, the worst part is the Julie side of the movie. It’s frustrating: the girl is unhappy, she’s not ok with her job and where she’s leaving so I expected seeing some sort of change in these aspects (besides the evolution of her blog). Instead it gets super long, going on and on about how she deals the whole year with her project, in the same crappy situation.
Meryl Streep character was adorable though, in general I think the acting was great.

Anyway, I like to complain (just a little bit) so I wrote down all the things that bothered me in the movies. There are some good things too, in fact it’s very possible that I am the one who didn’t enjoy them.
That said, yesterday I found a lovely surprise in the mail. A month ago I entered a giveaway at Type & Swash and… I won! I was really surprised, I’ve never won anything before. So now I have a 2010 calendar for my room, I looove it:
